So a crew (not me, I'm relaxing on station) get called to a woman who is 38 weeks pregnant, and was mugged.
Her mobile phone was demanded from her, and after she gave it over, the attacker then punched her so hard in the stomach that her waters broke. He is only stopped from kicking her in the stomach because someone comes out of a nearby house.
I try not to swear on this blog...
The crew turn up, and take the patient to the local hospital to the maternity department.
They pre-warn the unit to meet them, as they keep their doors locked at night.
So why, when they turned up, were the doors still locked? The excuse from the *idiot* midwife?
"I forgot to tell anyone".
Followed by,
"We haven't got any beds".
It's not bad enough that some scumbag purposefully attacked a pregnant woman, but then the people who are supposed to help her don't seem to give a damn.
The crew involved have put in a report about it, as this isn't the first time this has happened. Sometimes it seems that we are the only people doing our job properly.
Quite rightly the crew are spitting mad about the whole thing and are determined to do something about it.

It is hard to label such a beast in a way that is fit for a public reading. Any idea how the mother and baby did post trauma?

I'll try to find out, but I don't get to go to the maternity department much these days.

My goodness.
This is really shocking. I don't know what makes me most uncomfortable: knowing someone is vicious enough to kick a pregnant woman, or the negligence of a maternity unit. Terrible. Girl Re: Scum

the only way i can label the scum is not for anyone under 18 or does not like swearing and shocking imagery. all i hope is the **** get attack and his ******* scum ******** and **** gets ripped off and shove right up his *** (add your own words).
as for the maternity department, they need to stop changing nappies and do what is needed. i think the crew (and sound like most of LAS) are right to be upset (cant use the word i want) with the way it was handed by the MD. if i was in there shoe i would report it too. Re: Scum

My wife is pregnant and I have to worry because we live in London. She is only 3 and a bit months and already we have agreed if anyone comes up to just hand the stuff over. This is not right anyway but reading this makes you think that you have to.
I hope this piece of shit gets caught so everyone can take turns kicking the c*nt in the stomach. I will go first please. The local hospital dont help but it seems quite common. In only a couple of months of my other half being pregnant i.e. they are not very helpful. Is this is a London thing or just the way it goes? Re: Re: Scum

I could take a guess about midwives not being helpful, but it would be just that, a guess, as I've never had anything to do with midwives outside of London.
And I have met a couple of good midwives, they aren't all bad. Try not to worry though, this was really unusual, which is why I mentioned it - remember, most of the assaults I go to are by people who know each other. Re: Re: Re: Scum

What a horrifying thing to happen, I do hope this lady and her baby are ok. With regards to midwives, I've had 2 children in the last 3 years. The first in hospital and I have to say the attitude of the midwives and doctors was terrible. As a result my second I had at home, community midwives are brilliant, a whole different breed!

I'm an almost midwife; if I got a call like that on a night shift I would be there to open the doors for them, let alone tell switchboard they are coming in.
Idiots. I make no excuses for incompetent members of my profession. Re: Scum

Christ, that is an awful incident! I am 39 weeks pregnant - so I can just imagine how shocked and upset and terrified that lady must have been - and then to be treated so callously by the hospital staff is just disgusting. Am glad to hear there was a happy ending but the maternity staff in some hospitals beggar belief (I won't go on about my experiences but some weren't far off), and especially when the lady must have been in a state of shock.
As for the attacker - there aren't words that could be used on a public website to explain what I think about them - scum is too good for them, they should be strung up by their bits and publically flogged - and that would be too nice. |
