An advantage of using the house phone is that if you were unable to actually speak to the operator to explain the situation, they would at least know where you were located and maybe able to work out what was going on in the background and send the appropriate response. Unfortunately, in Australia anyway, they would only get the billing address details on a mobile call through CLI.
