Yes, well...my brother and his mates at school in the 50s had a good one...they'd use a pencil eraser and rub it just in front of the ear where the short hairs are (embryonic sideburns). I should imagine this was as painful and difficult to endure as the chinese burns he used to practice on his little sister (me!).
