That is tragic - what awful awful places you must see. Recently in Ireland there was a case where a 102 year old woman was left to sleep in her chair because the nursing staff felt she was more comfortable there. When it was pointed out to them that she wasn't lucid enough to actually tell anyone what she wanted, the home changed it's tack to "she seemed more comfortable". Thankfully the home was reported for this and numerous other breeches of health and safety, and the management team was thrown out and replaced by a team from the local health authority.
Please god, when I get that old, I'll never have to darken one of those places.
