The 120,000 number sounds a little high, seeing as it's only 36,000 in the US (as they've told us over, and over, and over in the past few weeks) with 5 times the population. Now, Washington anyway, we're starting to get articles about how the risk of bird flu (and regular flu, for that matter) has been exagerrated. And (referring to a comment lower down), most of the "stuff coming out of New Orleans" has been found to be urban myth. Only four bodies were found at the Convention Center, 10 deaths (I think) at the Stadium, no gang rapes of children, no rescuers who thought people were shooting at them (although some people who were stranded have said that they fired off shots to attract a helicopter's attention--and I expect Coast Guard crews, accustomed to search-and-rescue, would interpret shots as such).
