I also, immediately on hearing the story on the news, wondered why they didn't just put him on a trolley and wheel him there. And why they didn't do that in the first place instead of calling for an ambulance transfer.
300yds isn't very far, especially when you consider the length of some hospital corridors. I've a friend (who's a House Officer) who regularly runs half a mile from her room to answer a cardiac bleep.
