My Nan ended up having to go in a home as unfortunately the family were no longer capable of giving her the level of care that she needed, even with good support from local social services and home visit nurses. They looked carefully at all the homes and found the best nursing home in the area (supposedly capable of providing medical care). She didn't last much longer. This may sound cruel but I'd rather risk loosing my parents sooner than force them to eek out a few more months in one of those places.
