ok, I think there is a bit of a semantics issue, perhaps. Personally, you could *threaten* me with a section, and the restricted freedom and so on that entails which, let's face it, is a scary prospect. I would wish to avoid it. But if it were to happen, if I was unable to make the decisions that were best for my welfare, then even once I was on a secure ward I wouldn't think I was being *punished* for anything. It would be more an unpleasant necessity.
