In Canada, we have what is known as PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), such as: gloves, gowns, masks, eye protection...
When our ambulances get a call such as the one you described, they are supposed to wear eye protection, and eye glasses are not adequate.
I wondered if UK has similar types of precautions...instead of leaving it to a worker who may or may not wear seeing eye glasses....?
