That doesn't seem so very out of character to me, Tom. Surely part of the motivation for you in doing your job is to help people. So in such a frustrating situation, where her powerlessness to make good choices about her life was echoed by your powerlessness to help her in any way, it's not surprising that you, and your crewmate, ended up annoyed and upset. It is truly depressing, and there are no easy answers.
