Surely it depends on the pattern of alcohol-fuelled violence? IIRC much of it occurs around 'closing time', when hundreds of pissed-up nutters are let loose. If closing times are staggered or abolished, some of the source of the trouble (competition for taxis, kebabs and curries) should be reduced
