Nuclear radiation protection? But, and I'm sure I'll get told if I'm wrong here, which I may very well be as this is half-remembered stuff from school...
If a nuclear bomb is detonated in central London, most of the living cells in central London, be they human, animal, vegetable, or contents of a bachelor's fridge, would be pretty much instantly vapourised anyway, wouldn't they?
The people who would be dying slowly of radiation sickness and might have time to put a mask on would be in the rather more outlying areas.
