Re: Re: What Is An Ambulance?

In reply to J,s comment the RRV/RRU/RFU etc cars in the UK carry the same equipment as found in an ambulance apart from the stretcher and a carry chair. All cars carry monitor/defibs. Our European collegues work differently in that some only carry enough kit to provide Basic Life Support, whilst in Switzerland an ambulance would pick a doctor up from a clinic or hospital. (Although this does bring its own problems in that emergencies outside a hospital environment are a different kettle of fish).
In reply to cat119,s comment our RRV,s are not sent to potentially violent situations, heroin o/ds, pubs, assaults or domestics.
At anytime an RRV can turn a job down if they feel that its "iffy". With no comebacks. This has happened and the RRV has been backed up by management.
My only complaint about the current RRV situation in my patch is that when I first started on the cars it was voluntary. Now it is compulsory if in your station rota there is a car shift. Not everyone is confident about working alone.
