I'm sorry, I have to disagree. It's obviously not normal to want to harm yourself or others, but that doesn't mean the person has a mental illness. Some people will go to extraordinary lengths to get their own way. Mental illness is present all the time, it doesn't only surface when the person wants to manipulate someone.
