Sounds like you need a Reeves strecher. It is basically a transfer sheet made out of nylon with wood slats sewn into the nylon to stiffen the carrier. We use it for a number of our "access challenged" patients to get them to the gurney. It works great, and since it has a fancy name,is bright orange, and is cool, we can carry it in our rigs.
