Surely a normal IV saline infusion would be a more suitable route and probably more controlable in that it is simple to see how much has been administered and over how long a period. Also the fact that the patient wouldn't have to put it past their lips would be better as well.
Again though, I suppose you have to be there and get the "full picture" before we get on our high horses!!
