I run a medical admissions ward. If I found anyone prescribing this I'd be talking to them and then their senior clinician. If I found a nurse (unlikely, I admit)giving this to a patient I'd certainly consider it abuse and would consider it my professional obligation to take appropriate action. Salt tastes vile as does lemon juice taken neat. furthermore even if she was hyponatraemic on discharge a week ago, her U&E's would have been affected by her failure to take in adequate fluids over the previous few days - she could even have a degree of renal failure by now. This doctor is an incomptent idiot and a danger to his patients. Report him for their safety. Two words; 'Harold' and 'Shipman'.
