I do think the suggestion made before to have a dedicated "maternataxi" service is a great idea. There is hospital transport for people who would find it hard to get to hospital for treatment, so something along those line for women in labour would surely make great savings?
Like others have said, its nigh on impossible to find a taxi service that will take a woman in labour to the hospital. And, when you live somewhere like London, the option of friends with cars is pretty much out of the question.
