Some rat/mouse poisons (and many household cleaners/chemicals) contain Bitrex which makes them unpalatable. (I was going to try and be clever and write the full name of the chemical, but it was so long and complicated it put my dyslexic brain into melt down.) http://chemistry.about.com/cs/5/f/blbitter.htm I wouldn’t want a child of mine testing them out though
