Strokes are awful things to have happen to you. I'll never forget the TV programme I had to watch at college, about a 40 year old father who'd had a massive stroke. At first he could only communicate to his teenage daughters by making a noise when they got to the correct letter of the alphabet on a board. It took ages to get one sentence, but they were really patient with him.
