Re: Re: Money, Money, Money...
by DaveM
I've just lost a estates manager that dealt with first aid, that would come running to all first aider calls, and give the advice "you should call an ambulance". he is not first aid trained at all, and this upset me alot. im a St John Ambulance Aid 2 first aider, and i should be able to make my own mind up, and one day told him " i drive a Ambulance for St John, I deside if i need an ambo or not, not you. now let me treat this person in private" and closed the door, the lad i was treating asked if he was a first aider. my reply was no, the lad reply is unrepeaterable on his blog. Later i end up with my line manager is his line manager office with the estate manager. he had complained about my ataude to him. i said my peice about, i was not rude, i pointed out that i was trained to do first aid, and i was treating at the time, he walked in on me treating. and said they was another person in the room and that they should be here to give they version. the lad arrives, and finds out what i was being up infront of management for and then asked if the estate manager was First Aid trained, when told he was not the lad said that i politey told the manager that i was qualified and to leave, then when on about how the manager was given out advice he was not trained to give, invading his privatey. and that could end the college is hot water, that i was done for the offence the college would look bad and his dad would be intrested (his dad work for a PHCT, doc i think) and adviced me that i should give up on first aid at work if i was getting his crap. and that the estates bloke was a ******. the estate manager was told to leave me to treat without interferance, i was thanked for my good work. and over 7 yrs i've only called 2 ambos. one fall down stairs with changed feeling in legs, and one person with breathing problems, loosing colour.
