My mother had a home birth with my brother in the 1950's. It nearly cost her her life. It only needs there to be a haemorrhage and no-one qualified to deal with it to turn it into a disaster. With staffing as stretched as it is, it could be a return to the dark ages. How many of a woman's wishes will they take into account? I'd have been happy to get a decent cup of tea after each of my experiences, let alone a water birth.
