Some weeks ago I read that hoodies wear the apparel because they are inwardly frightened and use their hoods and baseball caps as objects to hide behind and so feel safer. This and their trait of collecting in groups reinforces this belief.
Then it's another fashion trend. In the same way we had Teds, Skinheads etc.
