DJ, My union, APAP, have been pushing for BLS Training and other First Aid to be part of the National Curriculum in our schools, and I believe Tom has advocated something similar on earlier posts. Then, in time, everyone would have the ability to save lives. Strangely the Government don't seem to be too moved by the idea, perhaps its not a vote winning subject!
