I'd take it off of her, and if I knew a cop who could deal with it, I'd hand it over to them for disposal, other wise chuck it yourself. I'd be worried less about the "stealing" from her than have someone else potentially recover it once it was disposed. Getting the cops involved with her or her friends (either calling them straight away or just bringing it to a potential crusader) jeopardizes future care. Patients would be less likely to call for emergency services and might be more hostile to paramedics if they appear to be too aligned with the police.
