I carry a knife. A swiss army knife with loads of geeky bits to it. It comes in incredibly useful and should any child ever be unlucky enough to have me as a father I would (when the time is right) give them their own and teach them how to care for it. I'm now waiting for the government to make such knives illegal in another example of the rapid legislation that has made the UK the place it is today.
