I think I can guess the second half: he happily began to recover, and was allowed out of intensive care, at which point he was promptly faced with a beaming Jacqui Smith, and the same kids that you saw the police talking to earlier, now all bearing knives to prove their entitlement to be there under Jacqui's new scheme...
