In South Central when we book on for lunch we can choose to be availble or unavailable. Needless to say, almost everyone books on as unavailble. Our 30 minute lunch breaks are supposed to be in a four hour window two hours either side of the mid point of our 12 hour shift. Maybe this was the case in Scotland, the paramedic had booked on as unavailible. Anyway, Ambulance staff don't need breaks...you never see them take lunch breaks on casuality
