Matt,
Your right about the information, it is the same that is on a passport and like a passport you can only have one (as a British National) if you apply. They are not compulsory. Yes some jobs will require them so that’s about half a percent of the population covered.
Tom you already carry a government id card and actually have 2 with all but biometric data on (driving license, NHS).
Anything else regarding national id cards, including being made to show them will require a new primary law (Act of Parliament). If you have a passport which has biometric details on it already there is no change.
The NO2ID website has more mistakes on it than the government makes, and that’s saying something!
