This is rather heartless but people have to take responsibility for their own lives, if they hadn't smoked or eaten so much they might not have needed you at all. Perhaps if the GP had provided more info there could have been a better resolution. At least he had proper "skilled paramedics" turn up rather than the green bus driver. ps I hope your back is feeling less painful.
