Mr Keany, my art teacher - I have no artistic ability whatsoever so probably didn't make his job a lot of fun but he showed us all how a teacher could command respect without ever, not even once, raising his voice. He treated us like adults and with respect from the age of 11 and so was treated in the same way. He died a couple of years ago from cancer - I still think of him from time to time despite not having been in his class for the past 15 years.
