If I (a female) was put in the position of having to defend my children (currently aged 4 and 2) from immediate serious physical harm from anyone, male or female (of any species), I wouldn't hesitate to do as much damage as I needed to in order for them to escape unharmed. And I do think that is a valid excuse for violence.
