I admire them because they are strange creatures, fire fighters. For every other thing, whether human or animal, the instinct is to get as far away from fire as fast as possible. (And if not it should be). Yet they somehow manage to find these people who are willing to run towards it. I admire and appreciate all the emergency services (I'm a policeman's daughter) and acknowledge there is no way I could do any of your jobs, but when it comes to visible heroics I'm afraid firefighters have the edge.
