I can really relate to your dilemma. Reality is that we don't come across enough sick kids to feel comfortable treating them. In addition our various providers do not adequately prepare us for the challenge. I would have done the same in the hope that the time to definitive treatment would be short. Down in NZ, we have just started using the EZIO drill which is pretty user friendly compared to the Cook's needle. Only used it in adults so far with success. Nonetheless those little bones still freak me out!
